Have you ever been to an afternoon tea?
Yesterday was my first experience, and let me tell you, it was so fun! My parents treated my husband and I to afternoon tea at a local theatre called Drury Lane. The food options were able to be modified for us veg-heads and we were able to stay at our table as long as we liked.
We were seated at this adorable table nestled in the center of the dining room and surrounded by beautiful centerpieces.
A champagne toast!
Amongst beautiful scenery and lively conversation, we received our choice of tea. Mom and I chose white pear ginger while dad and Andrew enjoyed jasmine green.
Then, the food came...three tiers of deliciousness.
The first tier housed a traditional scone, a cinnamon scone, a piece of pumpkin bread (that, to be honest, tasted nothing like pumpkin bread...)and banana bread .
The second tier was veggies! It was a nice light and savory dish that cleansed our palates between the sweets. This tier included a fresh spring roll, a lettuce wrap, a cucumber crudites and a bruchetta stuffed mushroom that was to die for!
Finally, to top it all off, the top tier: a turtle cookie bite, chocolate dipped biscotti, creme brulee cheesecake, and apple pie. I thoroughly enjoyed the biscotti and apple pie.
Many of these desserts were accidentally vegan! The only one that was not was the cheesecake.
Overall, this was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys leisurely enjoying small bites of many types of food. It is a lot of food though, so go with an appetite! Although this was for my birthday, I think this would be a great date idea, an afternoon with friends, or a gift to give someone.
Have you ever been to an afternoon tea? If so, I'd love to hear about it!!
